- Leighton was awarded a $1.25 million grant through ADEM for water and wastewater infrastructure improvements. This project includes water meter replacements, water line material identification, telemetry of entire system, scoping of wastewater lines, rehabilitation of wastewater lines, and rehabilitation of lift stations. The first two phases of this project have been completed and work will continue into 2026.
- Leighton was awarded a Transportation Alternatives Program grant through ALDOT. This $1 million investment in our Main St. has completed the engineering and planning phase and work is projected to start in late 2025!
- Leighton has received a $25,000 grant from Norfolk Southern for community enhancements in the Main St. business district.

- $20,000 from Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area for Sledgefest, Women of Art Museum, accessibility improvements at Leighton Public Library
- $12,000 from Colbert County Community Development Commission for signage, Senior Center remodel, library improvements
- $62,500 from USDA for Adult Workforce Development training
- $5,200 in Alabama Legislative Tourism grants
